Guy picked them off one by one There were "NO MAD ESCAPE ATTEMPTS NO TENSION ASTONISHINGLY FOR A "mad escape attempts no tension astonishingly for a about a mass murderAnd that ending was cringingly cheeseyI ve read a couple of reviews that say this book is too scary for ounger readers I wouldn t necessarily agree High school shootings do happen and I do think it s right that it gets written about But with this book I d have concerns about ounger teens slipping into a Boredom Coma than being kept up at night sleepless and terrified This is Where it Ends is told in the different view points of four seniors from Opportunity High School all linked in someway to a seniors from Opportunity High School all linked in someway to a that goes on a killing spree at the school As they talk us through the event we learn about what is happening at the time and also details of the narrator s life family hopes and dreamsI have to start by saying I couldn t put this book down I was compelled to keep reading to find out the final outcome However I also found it lacking in some areas One was the voice of the narrators they were all very bland and had a sameness about them and came across to me as being too mature in their thoughts to be 17 18 ear olds Also the endless love talk of the two girls was overdone I can t image at that age someone would be willing to lay down their life for loveSuitably written for ages 14 it has themes of family loss and anger The main characters all have a sense that they are lacking in some way and are letting other people downI really liked the epilogue It finally brings the emotion and is something I can imagine the seniors doingWith my thanks to the publisher via Netgalley for my copy to read and review I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked ReadsIt took me a little bit to find my feet with this book because it is told from various view points But once I got straight in my head who was who the story flowed well It is suspenseful and had me eagerly turning the pages Even though we only get snippets of each of the characters it was enough for me to be emotionally invested in the story and rooting for their survivalThis story did not provide any meaning of life type stuff or big revelations about life This is Where is Ends shows us the horror fear helplessness love and bravery of these characters experience in a very short period I m glad I gave this story a shot and I have no doubt I ll think about it the next time I see a school shooting on the newsWicked Reads Review Team ReviewThis book as Concours Attaché territorial - Catégorie A - Tout-en-un you probably know was one of my most wanted read of thisear and let me tell Technicien territorial you it didn t let me downThis book is set at a school obviously and deals with school shootings and I guess the impacts that it has on an individual who is 1 in this ordeal and 2 has been impacted by it I have a big interesteah I m mad but I swear it s fascinating to see why a person does this on this topic We studied the Columbine shootings at school and as horrible as they where it has shaped the world so much well mostly but not enough And because of this I think it s interesting to see why the two boys in the end ended up doing what they didDuring this book I had goosebumps I could never imagine myself in this situation at all And just reading about it made me feel sick and anxious about the characters lives It had me on edge at points and made me uestion uite a lot of thingsI believe Nijkamp has done an amazing job with this topic I feel like she has touched on this topic very well and has established a very uick connection with the audience at the start of the book I was hookedI did love how she has an array of different characters POV Someone in the actual building with the shooter someone outside helping police and some others were trying to get into the building to help those stuck get out By doing this I think Nijkamp has efficiently established suspense as at certain times we as an audience are thrown into the POV of another character and are left in the dark and hanging on a cliff hangerI also loved the diversity of the characters And how they all had a certain link to the individual with the gun whether it was a relationship friendship and even family relationsI also enjoyed seeing parts of social media being used in the book by the characters who are involved in the situation I found this to be a uniue aspect of the bookFavourite uotes You can t always keep Concours Attaché territorial - Irritated me and I T Even Have A Really even have a really reason for that I much preferred reading from Tom s POV I really loved him and the whole hero thing he had going onOverall I found this a great fast paced read and once the action gets going it s very hard to put down I literally had to throw the book away from me to force me to get some sleep for work the next morning As school shootings happen so too do books about them seem to proliferate as people try to make sense of something that seems nonsensical There s the infamous We Need To Talk About Kev ARC provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest reviewInitially I m very iffy when it comes to books with multiple POVs But for this story s case it suited TIWIE is a novel that gripped me at every page portraying an all too realistic scenario one that no one can ever imagine occurring happening in their lifetime but has already occurred 15 in the US alone this Sciences et technologie - READ Í PDF, eBook or Kindle ePUB ´ Marieke NijkampThis was such a gripping et harrowing story It
s fast pacedfast paced the POV switches regularly between various characters as the horrible events unfoldInitially we are introduced to each character as they start what is supposed to be just another normal first day of a new semester We learn a little of their hopes for the future some memories from the past and how their lives are all interwoven Because there isn t much build up to the shooting which is great from a pacingatmosphere perspective it can be a little confusing getting to grips with the various relationships between all the characters and how they re linked but this got easier to remember As The Story ProgressedThe Story the story progressedThe story as expected unsettling brutal and terrifying The shooter is completely remorseless in his actions and that leaves no character safe not even those closest to him Through flashbacks from the various characters we learn a little of the shooters background and what has led to him reaching the decision to attack the schoolIt should come as no surprise that a lot of people die in this book many of them characters that La Méthode Heuristique de Mathématiques. Enseigner les mathématiques autrement à l´école you grow close to through the narration and all of them undeserving of their fate They re terrorised in the most brutal way by someone they know and for some of them someone they loved and trusted and for things that aren t their fault But there is than death here we see some spectacular displays of bravery of care and selflessness and of love that there is so much emotion packed into a short book It was incredibly hard hittingI would definitely recommend this It s an incredibly real story and something that could easily happen in so many schools which is as terrifying as it is heart breakingMy only complaint was that there wasn t much coverage of what happened after the incident and I would ve liked to see a little of the outcome and how the survivors had adjusted Out of most of the books I had shelved to read thisear This is Where It Ends probably topped the list and was definitely in the top five of my anticipated reads of 2016 This book tells the story of a school shooting from a number of different points of views And that s all ou need to knowIt may sound remorse but as soon as I found out this book covered the events of a school shooting I knew I wanted to read it and I wanted to read it that very instant and I was devastated I had to wait for it As a journalist I have been in the newsroom while myself and my colleagues have been the people behind the computers trying to find people posting social posts images and videos from such events and other events such as the Paris Attacks and Charlie Hebdo It s my job to become involved in such an event and to want to report it I ve seen the graphic videos but nothing will ever come close to being as chilling as the eye witness accounts regularly reported by media and accounts such as the fictional ones laid out in This Is Where It EndsThere s a cold ruthlessness that creeps into every corner of this book that is Tyler Browne the shooter The way he takes no prisoner and shoots down people with a methodical ease in the way it seems most shooters do It s frankly terrifying and I think the detached cruelty held by Browne could be uite reminiscent to how we ve seen real life shooters being described The only problem I had with the book and is why I knocked off a half point is that I don t think all school students are soblack and white as Browne We did have different view points of his character his sister who loved him her girlfriend who hated him and his ex girlfriend who had loved him once We do see the good sides of him in Autumn and Claire s POV but I think they re always overshadowed by the implications Slyvia lays down about him The common case of shooters seems to be the isolated white male often with a gun fascination who seems to think the world owes him something and he s angry he hasn t got whatever he s looking for et And while Tyler certainly was that the book gave him another edge that was pure evil and I m not sure it was 100% realisticI definitely felt emotion while reading it and unlike other reviews I found myself attaching myself to some characters but not all the main characters Asha Matt Tom s and Farseed were a few that really locked themselves into my heart I found myself silently begging that none of them would get hurt and I could feel my stress levels rising as I flipped each page waiting to see the outcomeEven though they were some of the main characters I actually didn t care about Autumn and Sylvia I found their love story too dramatic and I think it tried to take too much away from the overall plot I understand that their relationship was one of the things that brought Tyler to breaking point but there were other factors in there as well and well I just didn t like Autumn and Sylvia they.
